Living with Scleroderma – My journey with autoimmune disease
Speaker: Claudia Sultan, Wollongong, Australia
In this episode, we hear from Claudia Sultan who is living with an autoimmune disease called Scleroderma which affects roughly 6,000 Australians. There is no cause or cure for the disease and life expectancy is 10-15 depending on the severity of the disease, if internal organs are damaged. She was selected as a suitable candidate to participate in a Stem Cell Transplant trial at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney to reverse her condition by 50% which was successful, however she relapsed in 2018 with lung disease. This is a brief glimpse of her story and experience. She’s written a book since then to raise awareness of the disease.
